To level the playing field in test prep, Riiid Labs developed an AI-powered, budget-friendly platform that gives all students access to high-quality practice tests

Affinity Mapping
We created lightweight personas from behavioral patterns to help the team understand user needs. These guided early decisions around onboarding and tone.
After transcribing all interviews, We created an affinity map in FigJam to cluster themes across different user types. This helped surface core insights that directly informed our feature priorities.

The home screen was a critical part of the experience, serving as the main entry point for students. It needed to clearly display their practice test progress and predicted target score. The primary goal was to give students a sense of where they currently stand and what they’re working toward.

Insights from affinity mapping helped surface key user behaviors, goals, and pain points, which I distilled into lightweight personas. These personas guided my wireframe ideation, allowing me to design user flows that directly addressed real needs and streamlined the overall experience.

Tutoring can be quite expensive for many students. IvyGlobal offers an affordable solution by using an AI tutor to track progress and provide personalized SAT and ACT prep. This ensures students are well-prepared and confident when test day arrives.

The practice test interface is designed to display only the reference materials and the set of questions that need to be completed so that the students can remain focused on the task at hand. This ensures that students remain fully engaged with the test, helping them simulate real exam conditions and sharpen their focus. By limiting distractions, the AI tutor maximizes the efficiency of each practice session, allowing students to concentrate fully on the material.
